The Importance Of A Healthy Life - 1400 Words
A healthy life is important and deserving to every human living on this planet. Regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, social status, sexual orientation, family background, etc., every human on this planet deserves the right to feel good, be healthy and happy. Being healthy means different things to different people. It could mean traveling, spending time outdoors, it could mean not being sick, not taking medications, enjoying luxuries like massages, spa time, it could be exercise such as yoga, Pilates, running; but whatever being healthy means to you, it is feasible no matter your budget, time constraints or basic lack of knowledge to gain the skills to become the best version of yourself you want to become. To us, being healthy meansâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I grew up playing every sport, hiking, swimming, mountain climbing, etc., so I never understood the ââ¬Å"lazyâ⬠attitude until I began working as a Paramedic in Stockton 6 years ago. I didnââ¬â¢t understand why people would ââ¬Å"allow themselvesâ⬠to become obese and have multiple hea lth problems. I blamed it on laziness not knowing any better. I became a Paramedic because I thought I could save the world and help everyone in it. Little did I know, I was taught SO MUCH more than I have had the ability to pass on to others. I began speaking with people who were sick. I said often ââ¬Å"but your too young to haveâ⬠¦.â⬠whatever ailment was troubling them. I began asking questions. ââ¬Å"How did you get hereâ⬠, ââ¬Å"what do you think about your lifestyle allowed this to happenâ⬠? Sometimes the answer began with some form of abuse or neglect as a child, sometimes it was the thought that it is too expensive to eat well, and sometimes, more often than not it was a complete lack of knowledge that there was any other way to live. Lifestyles are passed down from generation to generation. Most of these communities had never left their 5-block radius, let alone the highway 5/99 bubble.
